10. CERBACK

CERBACK is a ceramic backing material for welding, to get perfect penetration without cracks or hairline openings, saves welding cost appox. 40% & time approx 50%, developed first time in INDIA by technocrats & marketed by us.

CERBACK is suitable for ship building, marine facilities, plants and other steel structures and is widely used for one side welding technique such as CO2 semiautomatic welding and automatic welding.

Product Feature
CERBACK is a fine ceramic product composed of adequately mixed natural inorganic substances (kaolin, talc, alumina, magnesia etc.) that are heat-treated at high temperatures of 1,350ºC~1,400º C span. Since CERBACK is heat-treated at high temperatures its shock resistance to rapid heating and cooling is excellent (coefficient of thermal expansion is 1.85- 2.5 x 10-6 at 1,000º C ) and maintains superb stability against the high temperatures created good beads on the back side. CERBACK has excellent characteristics of ceramic such as anti-acid, anti chemicals.and anti-corrosion and also caused no change or reaction of steel at the time of welding.

CERBACK IS A CERAMIC BACKING MATERIAL SUITABLE FOR SHIPBUILDING, MARINE FACILITIES, PLANTS AND OTHER STEEL STRUCTURES AND IS WIDELY USED FOR ONE SIDE WELDING TECHNIQUE SUCH AS CO2 SEMI AUTOMATIC WELDING AND AUTOMATIC WELDING.

Product Specification / Models CERBACK speeds production, improves worker efficiency and reduces costs. It allows one-sided welding for steel, alloys and aluminum of any thickness. The product is composed of ceramic tiles attached to aluminum tape on which specific heat-resistant adhesives are spread. Designed for one-sided welding, it produces smooth and homogeneous back beads even with high electric current. This product is designed to provide welds that are free from porosity and inclusions. The CERBACK series can be used with most types of one-sided welding including GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, SAW, MIG, TIG, PLASMA, CO2, SEG ARC, Almost all types of welding procedures & for all types of metal.

CERBACK “Ceramic Weld Backings” are manufactured in many shapes and sizes for the conditions of
heavy metal fabrication.
When properly positioned and attached to the back-side of weld joint openings, produce a condition which
results in root welds free of defects.

The use of CERBACK Ceramic Backing can be justified by the following advantages:
Reduction of labour to elimination of many operations (cutting the root of weld, pre-welding, rotating the construction),
Welding operations are carried out on one side in technically convenient positions,
Semi-qualified welders can be employed,
Eliminating defects of weld in its root part and eliminating necessity to do repairs.
